We got to the airport with some time to spare, but at the last moment, sure enough I received phone calls from work with some emergency. I think I got one last call before I got on the plane, but I didn't hear the ringer in my pocket (no, seriously, boss, I didn't hear it ring).
Once I got on the plane, all I got was a voice-mail saying "Hello? Hello?" Hope it wasn't too serious. We did a straight shot from Salt Lake City to Paris, just over 9 hours of flight time. It wasn't too bad, I actually slept most of the way, something I am rarely able to do on flights. We got into Paris at about 10:40 am local time. Passport Control and Customs are hilarious in Europe, if they even exist. I had to show my passport 3 times to get out of the USA, but in Paris, the guard barely gave it a passing notice before waving me through, and there was no one at the customs station to check anything.
